Would you like to help? - potential research study on early symptoms of CML

Can you help us to design a research study looking at the early symptoms of Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia?

We would like to invite you to participate in a group discussion to help us with a research study looking at the early symptoms of chronic myeloid leukaemia and what triggers patients to seek medical help.

Your help is important to us because we would like to make people more aware of the possible signs and symptoms of chronic myeloid leukaemia so that this disease can be diagnosed as early as possible. Meeting with you will give us the opportunity to discuss the best possible and preferred way of asking questions about chronic myeloid leukaemia and to obtain feedback on the methods we propose to use to explore this area of research.

The group discussion is scheduled to take place in the week commencing the 27th October at the department of Cancer Research UK, St Thomas’ Hospital, London.

Possible dates and times for the discussion include:

Wednesday 29th October from 4.00 to 5.30pm and

Thursday 30th October from 5.30 to 7.00pm

If you’d like to hear more about this study please contact:

Dr Marcia Kapari, Cancer Research UK London Psychosocial Group on 0207

Sandy

As I live in Australia I will not be able to participate in a face to face discussion.

However if you can provide Dr Kapari email contact details
I would be happy to participate in my own experience to assist
her research

Sue (Aussie)

Hi Sue,
thanks for volunteering .... I have sent you the email contact but I am not sure if they would be able to use your input as you are not based in the UK and they are asking for funding from the NHS. But no harm in trying as your input might be helpful. I think they are struggling to contact patients and certainly need direct input from UK patients if they are to be considered for research funds.

Hopefully others who are based near London will volunteer. I think Dr. Kapari is willing to arrange for other dates for meetings if the current ones are too short notice.

best wishes,
Sandy

Sandy,

Do you have an email address for Dr. Kapari?

Thanks

Hello Sandy

Is there anything that can be done from a distance to help with the research? I live too far from London to be able to come up for meetings, to say nothing of not being able to get away from work, but I would be very willing to help by email etc.

Is this a possibility?

Regards, Janet

Hi there

I can't make it to London that week but would be more than happy to take part via email if thats possible?

K

Hi Sandie
You can count me in but that week is out for me as in Snowdonia visiting family. You can pass on my e-mail address if you wish.
Have fun
Keith
