Hi All - I was at the CML conference yesterday and Dr Goldman mentioned that there is a possible link between radon poisoning in cornwall and leukaemia.
Having done a bit of research I've found the relevant lancet paper and a radon map of UK which shows that I lived in a high-risk area.
Not that having a cause for my CML makes much difference but I am wondering if anyone else knows anything about this subject or if anyone else lives or has lived in Cornwall.
The conference yesterday was excellent and really informative. I found the news about advances in bone marrow transplant really positive and interesting. When I first went onto Glivec 8 yrs ago I was told it was unlikely I would be able to have a successful transplant in the future if the Glivec stopped working, it now appears this is not the case.
It also appears that not having a sibling donor is no longer a barrier either as half-matches could be made with my father or daughters or cord blood transplants are possible!
All great positive news!
Lorraine
