3rd cytosgenetic test
Hello,
I thought I would share our recent experience with you.
Towards the end of last year a routine blood test detected a mutation in my husband's blood tests. At the same time his PCR results were starting to plateau too high. His consultant put him on an increased dose of imatinib to see if this would work. 3 months down the line, his PCR has now dropped to 0.4 - it's never been below 1 before so it was a big relief to get those results.
I don't know which mutation has been found for you, but in our case a change in dose meant that gleevec still works. I know the waiting is difficult, and it is hard not to worry, but you may find that the gleevec does still work for you.
If you do need to change to a different drug, we were also told that if you approach the drugs company directly they sometimes will provide the drugs to you on compassionate grounds. So there is still hope.
Let us know how the new dose goes for you - fingers crossed that you get some happy results in the coming months.
