Support group in Derby area?

Hi all,
I would be grateful if anyone can tell me if there is a CML support group in or around the Burton on Trent or Derby area as I have had an equiry from a patient who would like to make connections with other patients in that area.
Any information that I could pass on would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sandy

Hi there
I was diagnosed on Christmas eve 08 (My 38 th Birthday), and i will leave my e mail address for whom it may concern to contact me , i live in Halifax west yorkshire , but i am looking at train fares etc for Hammersmith meeting in a few weeks. My e mail is christopher105@hotmail.com and id be happy for this person or other to keep in touch , iv been on Glivec since the end of december , i had WBC of 394 , had Hydoxurea and i started glivec when it came down to 104, since then had 2 blood tests and i,m in Haemological remmision with it at mo.
But i also have a slight concern about my eyes looking a little bit more bloodshot than they ever did before ( any advice on this would be good thanks , ive read to posts about eye bleeds etc , so far not had any bleeds.
Thank you Chris.

Hi Chris,
thanks for your post. I am sure there are people in the area of West Yorkshire who would be interested in meeting up to form a support group, and it would be more accessible than either of the one's in London...i.e Hammersmith and Kings.... and you would certainly save on the train fare.
I will pass on your email details to the person in Derby.

Regarding your bloodshot eyes. This can be an ongoing side effect of imatinib. I found that an eye bath of warm water and 2/3 drops of Hypericum and Calendula lotion - called HyperCal and available from a homeopathic chemist- really soothed my eyes and sometimes even cleared up the bloodshot look. When I did experience an eye bleed, which I did a few times, then it healed far more quickly if I used a HyperCal eyebath.

Good luck with your continued good response. I hope you see some sort of cytogenetic response over the next few weeks or months.

Best wishes,
Sandy
