I have just had a call from the nurse to say that my recent CPR results have went from a 3 log to one. Depending on my next CPR reading which they will do next week,my doctor is considering getting me on a study group using Bosutnib. Obviously this is quite new and I was wondering if anyone else was using it?
As a bit of background I have been around this site for quite some time and remember the interferon and cytarabine and was lucky enough - like most of us to be treated with Imatinib
Thanks and look forward to any replys...........jim

Bosutinib
Hi Jim,
I am curious about the introduction of next generation meds since my son has cml and he's only 11. Our journey through life with cml is a long one.
If you don't mind, may I ask why your consultant would not first recommend Dasatinib or Nolotinib (sp?)?
From the limited info I've read, it appears that Bosutinib may have even fewer side effects and be more effective than all the other available meds for resistant patients. The studies are very promising. (And another pharmaceutical company, Wyeth, is happy.)
I wish you the very best in treatment & life.
Best wishes,
Tracey
Hi Jim,
hopefully your PCR will be a one of 'blip' and you will not need to change drugs. Usually 3 consecutive PCR's are required to confirm the 'trend' of your results rather than a one off jump/dip.
Please keep updating here and let us know if your doctor considers the Bosutinib study would be the best course of action for you. I assume he/she has done a mutation test?
I have included the clinicaltrials.gov link for information on the study and locations of trials sites here.
.....info on clinical trials for bosutinib (SKI606) here

Hi Tracy
The answer to your question is – I don’t know – but it is possible that they are not available or maybe this new one suits my profile. It’s all to early to say but I will certainly keep it in mind when I see the doc in early May
Thanks for your interest and I return your good wishes
Take care, look after yourselves……….jim
Hi Sandy
You may be right regarding the one off blip and I think that is why the nurse is having me come in earlier to have an other PCR test done and have the results in time for my doctors appointment in early May
I don’t know anything about mutations and when I looked it up it confused me even more but I will certainly keep that question in mind..
Also, thanks for the clinical trials link. I noticed that Winnipeg, Manitoba is included in that roster of triall areas, and that may be a reason why my doctor is considering this particular drug.. I think that small clinics like we have here are often ignored when it comes to doing these studies
Thanks again Sandy, Take care …………..jim
Hi Jim,
Sorry to hear about your recent PCR result. Glad to hear that they are redoing the PCR test. A 2 log increase is pretty dramatic and needs to be acted on quickly. If the result is not a blip, then mutation testing is in order. This will decide what treatment change needs to be made.
I know several patients on Bosutinib and they are doing well. One patient never achieved CCR on Gleevec, Sprycel or Tsigna finally got there on Bosutinib.
