Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me with this query. Me and Becky my daughter (17) are going on holiday to Crete in August, this is a last minute thing due to a cancellation that she is coming. I wondered would she need a letter off her consultant to say what her tablets (Glivec) are when she goes through airport security or have you found that its not really necessary. We are travelling from Birmingham International. Thanks in advance. Dawn xxx

Taking Glivec on Holiday..
Hi,
I don't think you need worry about a letter to identify Becky's tablets. I assume they are already identified on the pack? so it would be quite clear what they are and should cause not problem.
However, if a letter would set your mind at rest then I can't see why your consultant would not provide one. After all peace of mind is what taking a holiday is all about, so maybe it would a good idea if you are at all worried.
I love Crete and have visited many times. I love the city of Chania on the west of the island... and the south west coast also has some lovely places to visit.
Hope you have a great time...although August is pretty hot!
Sandy
Hi Dawn, I have always travelled while on Glivec. I just made sure that I had all my tablets in my hand luggage as I think when I checked with my insurance company they did not cover you if you lost your meds especially if they were not on you. I also carry a letter from the doctor on me just in case. Hope this helps. Enjoy your holiday.
