Tomorrow I am having another bone marrow biopsy, thats ok, but tomorrow it's going to be taken from my sternum becouse the last 2 via my pelvic ridge didnt produce conclusive results. The consultant thinks the bone there has become too fiberous and the sternum should be more juicey.
Has anyone had this? Is it more painfull than the other? More risks etc due to the site? I know I am worrying but I dont know what to expect & would appreciate some advice so I know whats coming.

You are here
worried about biopsy
Hi Ali
I have had this done before & I actually found it less painful, when I was having it done I felt a 'butterfly' sensation in my tummy other than that the usual pushing/pulling...There are added risks due to the site but I was led to believe that only Dr's specialised in this field of 'surgery' are permitted to do it ?!
Personally if I was offered this way each time I had bone marrow extracted I'd take it ! I have since asked for it to be taken this way but was told they cannot take it too many times from that particular area ?!
Hope it all goes well for you & I'd be interested to hear your experience :)
Best Wishes ~ Louise.
