Stress and PCR levels

I read with interest Alastair's recent posting regarding his PCRU status and the fact that his good results have been achieved during a very stressful period at work.

This afternoon I heard that I was PCRU for the first time (Glivec since December 2006).

My brother was diagnosed with cancer and unsuccessfully operated upon exactly two years ago. Since then, my level of stress, worry and grief has at times been overwhelming. He died 12 days ago after a long and dreadful 'battle'(an expression he hated!).

I'm posting this news simply for the sake of other people with CML who may fear that the good response to Glivec they may expect could be hampered by any personal stress/grief etc. which may beset them. I know that we are all different, but my sad experiences have apparently not affected my steady progress towards PCRU.

Regards,

Diana

Hello Diana

First - congratulations on reaching PCRU!!! You have been heading there for a long time, but how very nice to have so many zeros. You never know, sigh, maybe one day I will join you.... :-)

But I am so very sad to hear the news about your brother. Cancer is a horrible, cruel illness and we are so lucky that the treatment for our CML is usually so effective and easy. Many people, your brother among them, do not have it so good. I send you my sympathies - and a big hug.

Regards

Janet

Hi Diane,
