Hello all,
Just a quick note to say that today I have been back to hospital & have been told that I am a Glevec failure. Having been dx last december my bone marrow has stuck at 86%, & mutations have been found, It appears that the sneaky cml has found a way around the Glivec in the bone marrow, & is refusing to budge.
As of tommorow I start on 100mg of Dasatinib & all of the possible side effects that this entails.
I wonered if anyone has any advice?
Bob
You are here
To Dasatinib & beyond........
Hi Bob. My partner Alan has been taking Dasatinib for over a year and is doing very well. Here's his reply to you:
The side effects for me are better than with Glivec and my count is down to 0.07. The only side effects I have are a pimply skin rash and a tendency to mouth ulcers. I was diagnosed Jan 2007, am 63, am extremely physically active, play sport twice a week and suffer no fatigue whatsoever. So, for me it's been marvellous.
Hope this helps
Alan
P.S. I belong to the CML support group attached to Kings College Hospital, London.

Fellow Dasatinib users,
I have now been taking Dasatinib for a week, & so far have found no noticeable side effects, is this common, or am I a bit premature with this, allthough when I looked in the mirror this morning I was shocked to find a few more grey hairs, but this could just be my age.

I was like that, but on day 8 I was admited to hospital with abdominal pain, headache.since then have low blood platelet count, low white blood cells count, anemia.
other members have reported fluid around the lungs and heart,
but if it works its better than the other option.
