Hi,
I am currently living in Germany but will probably relocate to my hometown of Harrogate in the New Year. Please could anybody tell me the leading CML specialist in the North Yorkshire area and how do I make an appointment. At the moment, I am under the wonderful Professor Hochhaus in Germany.
Also does anybody have details of the Yorkshire CML support group?

I can give you details of the CML Support Group in Yorkshire, Sandy has our link listed on this site under the links tab on the left. But it is www.cmlyorkshire.webs.com All the information you will need can be found on the site, also when you make a member you have access to the forum and private messages. As you will see the next meeting is set for December, the following one will be sometime in Feb.
I can say that the nearest CML Specialist will probably be at St James Institute of Oncology. Leeds. Most of our meetings are held there too, We have had people travelling from further afield to attend too.

Hi Sharon and welcome to this site, I have noticed that Chris B has posted details of the Yorkshire Region Support Group web page I am involved with the running of this group has chairperson and live in Bradford West Yorkshire which is about 30 miles away from Harrogate. However I can help you with the details of the specialist and hospital to attend when you do actually move to Harrogate as I have a friend who has CML and lives in Harrogate and attends the hospital there, so I will e-mail him and get the details and post them back to you or ask him to e-mail you personally, hope to see you in Nottingham and any members of the Yorkshire Region Support Group will make themselves known at the seminar we are actually printing and giving out some leaflets with our details on. I agree with Chris that Graham Smith at Leeds would be the best specialist near to Harrogate.
Prof. Hochhaus will be a hard act to follow, but I have met Graham Smith and he is excellent.

Hi Sharon I totally agree with Chris and Sandy about Dr Graham Smith being the best cml specialist near Harrogate based at ST James Hospital Leeds. I see him myself and have done for the last 9 years that I have had cml, although I go to Bradford Royal Infirmary for my routine blood tests and 3 monthly checks with my consultant. It was just a thought because of this other person I have known for about 7 years who has had cml for 15 years and goes to Harrogate District Hospital for his routine bloods etc that the info might be useful to you. However I don't think his consultant is a cml specialist so you would be most likely better off going to see Dr Smith at Leeds. Sue
