Nottigham Seminar

Hi, I,m looking forward to the seminar on Saturday, but this is the first one i will have been to. I see on the schedule for the days events there is a section called managing side effects, i was wandering if anyone knows if it is a questions and answers ? or is it a chat around a table with people going through there own experiences?

Since i started 400mg Glivec in Jan i have reached 0.3% which of course i,m very pleased with. But i seem to get a strange feeling in my head from time to time, it comes and goes, but is like my head is full of blood i,m not dizzy much or light headed, its just a weird feeling. My GP is referring me to a Neurologist just to rule things out. It seems to happen more when i,m tired, and sometimes comes along with some chest discomfort, but again not always, i have had alot of chest checks, X rays, Endoscopy and and echo cardiogram. Which all came back clear. It has only happened since 4 or 5 weeks in to Glivec.

Also regarding the seminar, We are staying over tomorrow night, but not at the Crowne Plaza, but a hotel nearby, and just wandered if anyone has planned to meet up the evening before anywhere ?
Thanks. Chris.

Hi Chris,
sorry to hear you are having strange effects from Glivec. I am sure you will be able to talk to one of the clinicians at the Seminar and get some kind of feedback and understanding of what might be causing them.

Unfortunately, I am not able to attend the Seminar... I am still suffering from the residues of Bronchitis and do not feel it is a good idea for me to
a. travel and
b. spread some nasty infection or virus to others.

As I said I am sure you will get a lot of answers and it will be great for you to meet up with other patients/carers and expert clinicians.

Enjoy the day,
Sandy

Thanks for that Sandy. Its a shame you can't make the seminar, it would have been nice to meet you. I hope you make a speedy recovery from the nasty bug. Hope the websites get some feedback after with people talking, they all seem to be very quiet of late.
Take Care, Chris.

I hope that you all have a good day- look forward to hearing all about it

Have just got home from the seminar, & what a great day it was.
Very informative, with speakers who made it all very easy for the layman to understand. It was nice to finally speak with other cml sufferers, something that I have never experienced before.
Thanks to all those involved in making this a great day.
