Hi, my name is Johannah, I am 55 and I was diagnosed with CML in August. Since then I have been taking Gleevec 400mg and my bloods have now stabilized. My red platelets especially were extremely high to start with. One of the symptoms which I had in the beginning was breathlessness and severe pain on breathing. This is now easing, although I am still get breathlessness on walking. Did anyone else suffer with this, and if so, does it eventually disappear? I have had lots of tests including a chest CT scan and everything is fine. This is the fist time I have posted on here but have found it to be a great site over these past few months - many thanks. Johannah

Hi Johannah, what is your red blood cell count? Mine was quite low at one stage, still is not where it should be, but it also causes me to run out of breath, as they increase I feel better.
I had a blood transfusion a while ago which brought them up to 12.5, I felt fantastic, but as they dropped so I got short of breath. My platelet count is within range at the moment, and my white blood cells are around 3.5.
Hi Johannah did you have a enlarged spleen when you were dx in
August, can cause breathlessness as it can get pretty cramped in the rib cage.Oh and welcome to the group.
