Has anyone had problems with the build up of excessive amounts of earwax since starting on Imatunib.
I was dx in Dec08 & untill July 09 had never had a problem with excessive earwax. Had my ears syringed in July, & now have a blockage again. I cannot find any posts that say this is/could be a problem, & it may just be coincidental, I cant blame the drugs for everything.

This is a bit weird - I have been on glivec for 5 years now - in the last year have had problems with ears on and off - I know its wax problem (never had any problems with ears before now) - really know that I need the ear syringed but have been studiously avoiding it - always seems to be something better to do than have your ear syringed. Like you don't know if I can blame this one on the drug - would be interesting to know if we are alone on this......

Hello All,

Given that syringing is not the most fun, have you tried loosening the wax with olive oil? My husband has been recommended he do that by a nurse and a pharmacist who both said buying ear drops was a waste of money!

The other thing he's used is ear candles, which work by creating a gentle suction. He needed to do them a few times, but it worked really well, and he found the process quite relaxing too.

Hope that helps,

Bhiru

Hello Bhiru,
I have tried both Olive oil, top quality only, & ear drops, but both have failed to do the job. I have made an appointment to see the nurse to have them syringed out.
