More ideas for Nice petition

Dear friends,

With reference to the NICE problem - I have permission from my local branch of Sainsbury's to go into their shop with three friends next week and collect signatures etc. for our petition. They will provide me with tables and chairs and say I can display a large poster which says -
PLEASE SAVE MY LEUKAEMIA DRUG. I can also print handouts with details about what's going on.
I can also leave the petition in the garage section and the cafe - both seperate buildings.

In 2001 I did the same thing in this shop and got ab0ut 8,000 signatures in five days - NICE were playing up again at that time. In the end NICE did a u turn and we won a victory for common sense and got our drug.

Am putting this on our site to perhaps give you the idea that you can go to your local Sainsbury's and do the same please.

Also am doing a letter drop in my village and the local shops are collecting signatures that come in for me as a result.

An article went into my local evening newspaper yesterday about it all - circulation 350,000.

Sainsbury's will be my home next week - Christmas is on hold.

If I can be of help to anyone please ask.

Love to all, Pat. (Diagnosed 1999 and taking 600 mg Glivec with 0 PCR)

Hi Pat, Thanks for all your work!

I have just taken a look at the e-petition site and you can still submit paper signatures under the same petition - see below. It may add weight if we use the same one? What do you think? you could copy and paste the text from the site. It up to you of course, no pressure.

Can I still send in a paper petition?
Yes. Paper petitions can still be posted/delivered to Downing Street. If you would prefer to collect signatures on paper, you should send them to: 10 Downing Street London SW1A 2AA

Just thought this may be of interest. Im going to ask my local supermarket tomorrow.

Dear All,

I have arranged with Pat to send some text for her to use as we agreed to use the signatures to support our letter to the DH ministers.
However I am sure the same signatures could be added to the no 10 petition too, I don't see why not?

Pat has a great way of persuading people and during our campaign in 2001 she did amazingly work. I am really grateful that she is involved again.

I have just heard from 2 CML advocates who I work closely with on the international level, and they are very supportive of what we are doing. Although they are not able to sign the petition because they are not UK citizens, they are willing to support us in anyway they can. We are working towards the best way they can do this. I will update you.

One idea I had, is to send the website address for the e petition on a slip of paper with all my Christmas cards to friends, as this is a way to reach more people and get them to sign up.

My Mum has had CML for over 30 years and is now on dasatinib. She has been on this for 18 months since becoming intolerant to glivec. We are very worried about the NICE decision as she has found that since she has been on dasatinib, she has had less side effects.
