recently diagnosed bowel cancer

Hi All
I did leave a forum note recently because Brian had to go and have a sigmoidoscopy which picked up a cancerous growth. So now we are jubilant, saw consultant today and he has a large growth that HAS NOT SPREAD and is offering surgery for a CURE. HEY !! So he has another investigation and then surgery early in January. Just to day that as a family my husband has had testicular cancer when he was 28 and I was expecting my first child - told no more children after the intensive radiotherapy he underwent, the medical people now hold their hands up in horror at what went on then - no offer of saving for sperm for a later date. Low and behold 13 years later I had a son.

3 years ago CML crept out of the woodwork, maybe as a result of all the radiotherapy, but thankfully all the wonderful research and dasatanib keeps Brian safe. Today we are being told of another caner cure for Brian.

On my part I had a total bowel removal and ileostomy operation 16 years ago followed by breast cancer.

We are still safe as a family - thank you to techgnology and faith in the medical profession.

Hope this may give others GOOD VIBES for the future.

Lots of Love
Chris

Dear Chris..... this is really good news... no it is really fantastic news.
Thanks for letting everyone know, and your story shows that individuals do benefit from cancer research if they have access to the fruits of that research through the NHS.
I hope that this continues in the future and we do not see a 2 tier NHS, with those that are not able to 'top up' getting inferior treatment.

Best wishes for a happy Christmas.

Sandy

I'm so pleased for you and Brian, Chris.

It sounds like you've had some very difficult times, but have come through them all. I wish you the best of luck in January.

Best wishes,

Jed

I have read and re-read what you say Chris and feel very humbled by it and your blessings to all of us given what an ordeal you have all had.
I cannot thank you enough for sharing this with us and the faith that we must all have.
