Hi Ian
You asked about the side effect of pins and needles. I had very bad pins and needles on both glivec and sprycel. It started about 4 months after I started glivec; starting at first in my feet and hands. It progressed to all over my body finally settling down to hands and legs. It was the strangest experience having pins and needles in my face. It was MOST definitely related to the glivec/sprycel as it stopped very quickly after stopping the drugs.
I had a myriad of odd side effects as well as some of the more common ones. I had a veyr strange feeling over my skin, it felt like it was getting hot without getting hot, rather like a flashing or flushing. It was very peculiar. I also developed terrible pains in my feet and at times could barely walk or flex my feet.
I definitely had very unusual side effects at that time (dx 5 years ago) and I went on to have a stem cell transplant. I think, though, that more side effects are becoming more common - if that makes sense.
Let me know if it settles down or what your doctor says. I would be interested to hear. My doctor had never heard of anyone having that side effect.
I have travel insurance for my CML with AXA ppp.
Regards
Susan
