Stress and CML

Hi there

I'm convinced that when I have high levels of stress in my life, it affects my CML.

I'm really interested to know if anybody else has got any experience or thoughts on the affect of stress on their CML? Does anybody believe it may have caused their CML in the first place, caused it to break through or simply caused a blip in their blood results?

I look forward to hearing from you, if you think there is a link or if you have seen any research or evidence to prove it.

Many thanks
Chris

I think stress had a good deal to do with my developing CML nearly 6 months ago - my husband had a serious illness diagnosed, and I spent many wakeful nights wondering about our future. Having said that, I still think it was probably something that could have happened anyway, but the stress may have accelerated it. I haven't spoken to my doctor about this, perhaps I may on my checkup next week.

Mine came about 8 months after a very stressful time at work and, as Olivia says, it could have happened anyway but it did seem to tie in. I know that now whenever I get stressed I certainly function at a lower level than in the past and it seems to get to me more but that could be because I am getting older or the effect of the drugs and the slightly 'woolly' head I sometimes have

I have been really looking into the acid/alkalinity of the body tissues as I heard that cancers really thrive in an acid environment and hence, am trying through diet, relaxation methods etc to maintain a good alkaline environment (test each morning with litmus!)

One of the causes of acidity is, guess what - stress. So there could definitely be a link between the two.

That was very interesting Beth. Thank you.

Hi Olivia

Thanks for your thoughts on this; I'm convinced there is a link . Did you get the chance to ask your doctor?

Rgds

Hi Karena

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's a vicious circle isn't it, because the CML causes stress and then the stress can't be good for the CML and so on.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Beth

That's really interesting; do you have anymore details on this, such as articles or websites etc.?

Many thanks
Chris

If you put ph levels in blood' into Google, it will come up with a whole lot of info.

Sadly all the things we like most - proteins, carbs (bread and grains generally), alcohol etc are acid 'ash' forming.

All fruits, salad and veg are alkaline and should form a 80% of our diet - hence the drive to juicing (the greener the better!)

Happy exploring - I find it fascinating testing my saliva in the morning with litmus paper, to see where my ph is at.
