Hi All
After 8 weeks of waiting my PCT came up with the funding for Nilotinib. Today I start my week off of Glivec and start Nilotinib next Thursday. I have several questions.
1. Can I have some advice on what times you have taken the tablets mornings and evenings
2. What about drinking during the period between the 2 hour fasting and the 1 hour fasting. Do you drink other things as an alternative rather water during this period. E.G. juice, coke. squash, tea, coffee etc.
This advice would be greatly appreciated. Im looking forward to losing some of the bad side effects especially the 4 stone in weight I put on with Glivec.
Thanks
Steven D
You are here
I'm new on Nilotinib. Some advice needed please.
Hi Steven
I take my morning dose at approx 7am - that way I have done the starving whilst asleep! By the time I have showered, dressed, planned the day I can eat breakfast. You shouldn't have anything but water during the 'starving periods' is my understanding. Also if you take the morning dose and stay in bed DON'T lie down, try proping yourself up on pillows, that way the tabs don't get stuck half way.
When I was on evening dose (now I only take one lot) I found 6pm the best time, that way I could have a snack and drink at 4, and be ready for supper at 7/7.30. This gave the best 12 hours spread for me.
Good luck with the weight loss, I have lost over 2 stone and feel so much better for that, none of the terrible swelling and oedema I had on glivec.
