Dasatnib delay

Having a bit of an "eek" moment...ordered Dasatinib two weeks ago today...took the last one on Wednesday and will now be making big noises on Monday. It's not my pharmacy, it's the supplier. Glivec used to come very promptly direct from Novartis by courier unlike Dasatinib which comes from a supplier via the post! Anyone else having trouble or delays?

Loving the sun!

HI, I had a phone call from the people who deliver the Dasatinib to me saying they were delivering next Tuesday (which is actually early) so no problems for me at present - I am in Kent. Are all the drugs manufactured here or will we have difficulties because of the lack of flights???

K

A neighbour tells me that she thought she saw Dasatinib mentioned in an newspaper article yesterday, as one of the drugs being delayed by lack of flights from Ireland. Doesn't excuse the fact that I first ordered this drug on Saturday 3rd April, but I assume my pharmacy couldn't actually place the ordered until Tuesday 6th (Easter). Even so, that's a day under two weeks and that's assuming they will arrive on Monday!

I would be interested to hear how people actually get their supplies. I'm given three separate monthly prescriptions by my hospital and take them in one at a time to my local chemist who would have to take out a bank loan to supply me with more than one at a time! The hospital has no pharmacy. Karena, who are the people who deliver to you & how does that one work?

Thanks

Vickie

HI Vickie

I always used to get my drugs (monthly) from my local hospital pharmacy but then last time they told me they were swopping to a delivery service. I then recieved a phone call from a company (I have to say I have no idea who they are but I shall check when they deliver on Tues) who arrange a drop off wherever I want in the UK. I had assumed they would only get in touch after my next hospital appointment but my appointment isn't until Friday and they are delivering 2 months supply on Tuesday so really not sure whether they get a prescription or not!

Will let you know the company etc on Tues

Thank you Karena. My pharmacist tells me that Bristol MSquib ordered the supplier to release them on 8th April. My pharmacist says that the route they seem to have been dispatched through is not one known to him UDL or something like that, but arranged through UNICHEM. He has done his best to locate what has happened to them, but in the meantime has had to order them again. I must say that I don't answer the phone to numbers that I don't recognise as a message can always be left on the machine. I have been having calls from an 021 number, have tried to call it back but get a recorded message that this number is not recognised.

I thank you for the information you have given me Karena and perhaps you will get back to me when you get your meds through.

In the meantime,,,,more of an eek moment.

xx

HI Vickie

My delivery has just arrived. One thing I did notice was that when I got Dasatinib from the hospital I always got 50mg tablets so took 2 a day but from this company I get 100mg tablets so just need the one. The company that deliver them are Healthcare at Home, Pharmaservice Division from Featherstone (although this van seemed to come from Swanley). There are no costs on the form but it does say there is a dispensing fee which I assume is picked up by the local healthcare trust.

Fingers crossed you get yours soon

My Dasatnib remained missing...I really don't know what's going to happen about it as my small, independent chemist can't afford to be out of pocket like that. He tells me that a member of his staff said "a tall person" collected them. It all sounds very iffy to me and I did get the re-ordered lot through super fast. I've now taken another prescription in to Unichem (last Saturday) but today (Wednesday) they'll still not in. I was just interested to see how long it took a different chemist to get them!

So Karena, who do you give your prescription to?

Thanks for the support!

Vic

Hi Vickie

Weirdly enough I don't get a prescription - never have. When I first started I got my drugs through the hospital pharmacy and my consultant just used to send the details across and now (I assume) a prescription gets sent to the company who deliver my drugs as I am never handed anything. It would be great if there was some consistency across the board! I could always stick some in the post to you!

Thanks Karena...took just five days from another chemist, so that's fine. I am interested in what you say though because my Onc knows how hard it is for me (don't drive, live rurally..) and he's never offered to bridge that link for me. by ordering them in the way that yours does. I forget now which hospital you're at?

I'll speak to him about it next time, especially as somehow a whole prescription just 'got lost'.

Vic

Hi Vickie

It would certainly be worth asking your onc for a different service. I am at Kent and Canterbury Hospital and to my knowledge no one on Dasatanib gets a prescription they all go through either the hospital pharmacy or now this delivery service.

Let me know how you get on
