Sunburn and light sensitivity?

Has anyone else experienced increased light ( sun ) sensitivity and an increased tendency to sunburn while taking glivec?  I have also had excruciating neck spasms like cramp and wonder if this is sleeping awkwardly on a mountain of pillows to ease eye puffiness or of it is related to Glivec.

Best wishes to all

Chrissie

Hi Chrissie

You are not alone although I am on dasatinib and I reported the same things to my consultant - I guess it is something we just have to live with

I understand that increased sensitivity to sun is normal with Glivec.   However, whilst I don't tan as easily as I used to and can now get burned, I do tan.   I find that exposure to the sun all but eliminates Glivec skin rash, so I welcome summer sunshine.

Interesting comment about neck pains.   I get them but hadn't associated them with Glivec.  I don't really think there is a connection.

I have been on gleevic for about 6 years and have been more sensitive to the sun, even just hanging our washing I was always lead to believe that we were meant to take more care and use a high factor sun block whilst on gleevic.  sue

Hi Chrissie,

I also suffer with sunburn now and put on high factor cream.  I think my skin is also thinning which may well add to the fact that I burn more frequently.  The thinning skin on my arms/hands - when I do gardening I come in with cuts all over my hands/arms.

With regard to neck pain.  Yep, what a pain in the neck!!!  My neck hurts all the time and to touch the bones around my neck and shoulders the bones hurt when I press them too.  Wondered if anyone else bones hurt when they press them slightly around the neck and shoulders?  I've tried lots of different pillows to ease the pain in my neck.
