hi there everyone.
i got diagnosed 1st may this year and am now taking dasatinib. i have since been experiencing pains in my arms, arm pits and now my breasts, they are so tender to touch. i was wondering if anyone else is or has experienced these problems?

I have been taking dasatinib since last September and have experienced similar things although my breast I have put down to hormones now and the pain down my arms/armpits I have been seeing a oestopath which has eased it - which has been down to stress

Sorry to hear about the pains - what a pain for you!
When I first took Imatinib, all my joints and muscles and bones ached - especially my knees - it was hard to bend down, so maybe a sign that the medication is getting down to the deep changing work?
Imatinib also makes you retain fluid which like pre period, could cause extra tension in the boobs. (Not really qualified to comment on Dasatinib though).
Thngs should ease soon!

thank you beth and jacqui for your comments. i think the side effects are very similar to dasatinib beth and fluid retention is in there too!
i will go to my GP and ask about it, feels like my whole life revolves around doctors and hospitals!!!!

i hope you are well. you say you have been on dasatinib since september, how have you been on that? have you had a bmb to see if its working yet?
im getting few side effects so far but seem to be waiting for the bigger ones to hit me!!!!
do you mind me asking how old you are?
im 28 and due to be married in december, im a bit concerned whether or not it will go ahead as i dont know how this treatment will effect me further down the line, did you get any worse as time went on or better?

I have been great apart from the initial week or so of painful joints - be confident and dont cancel your wedding - you are going to be fine - although its hard to believe sometimes but being positive is what will get you through. I had a bone marrow done after 6 months and my consultant was very pleased with the results - he wasn't expecting me to reach the point I got to for at least 18 months, I am aiming for remission now (positive thinking). As much as I have tried to change my life to be more healthy I still go out and have nights of drinking too much. I have decided it can't rule my life. I feel fine apart from the occasional real tiredness. I am a young 44 year old with two kids 9 and 11. You are too young to start worrying what might happen my advice is, if you feel well then you are unless your consultant tells you otherwise. The more I read it is quite likely you will live a normal life. I really hope this helps love jacqui
