Fund Raising for Leukaemia Research

As a relative new member of cmlsupport I have used the site many times for information and support. I was diagnosed with CML three years ago and my condition is being treated with Dasatinib after initially being treated with Imatinib I suffered a mutation 15 months ago hence my transfer to dasatinib. My family and I have been very active in opposing the activities of NICE endorsing each petition opposing their changes, also raising interest and action at every opportunity we can, writing to senior members of all political parties and directly appealing to every district councillor in Nottinghamshire.

As a way of giving something back for the excellent treatment I have received at Nottingham City Hospital my son, son in law and grandson along with four of their friends have embarked on fund raising for Leukaemia Research. For several weeks now they have been training for the Coast2Coast route between Whitehave(West coast) and Tynemouth(East coast) being undertaken next weekend. The event usually takes place over three or four days, to set themselves a challenge they intend to do the full distance in two days.

Full details and the ability to donate can be found by visiting their dedicated site at www.justgiving.com/LifeCycle-Coast2Coast  This is an initial adventure into raising funds other events have been suggested for the future.

What a fantastic effort - you must be so proud.

Good luck to them and so happy to hear that you are doing so well on Dasatinib.
