hi i am just wondering if anybody has travelled to anywhere like the maldives?

i am planning on going there for my honeymoon in december and as far as im concerned i only need the tetanus and the hepatitis A and i have been told to avoid the live vaccines, which non of these have!

any advice is much appreciated!

I've been to the Maldives several times, the last time last November. I only had tetanus and Hepatitis A and had no problems. My travel insurance excludes CML, but so far I've never had a problem and I'm not going to let that stop me. I plan to go again this year.

The Maldives are lovely, idillic tropical islands.   Have a lovely honeymoon.

Maldives is one of the great place that I long to visit for. I am currently facing right now problem in getting my visa that's why my application is still hanged. I am planning to visit Maldives for this year and I guess I should really pushed working on my visa. I hope I can get my visa as soon as possible. Best regards to your honeymoon.

Hi

I was planning to go to Ethiopia for a short break and my consultant has written to my GP advising him that I can have Hep A, ,diptheria, tetanus, typhoid and polio vaccines. My yellow fever vaccine is still in date and as I believe that is a live one I decided if I'm going, to go before this expires in 2012. I wouldn't need Malaria protection where I want to go, so I don't know what their take would be on that.

Have a wonderful time in the Maldives.

regards

Chrissie

Hi

My wife and I have been to Mauritius for the past two years, no problem at all.  We did not get bitten once, although our jabs are still up to date from pre dx (July 2008). We were told by Kings that I should avoid anti malaria drugs whilst on Glivec. We did fancy The Maldives, but no golf courses. My travel insurance also does not cover CML.

Alison, I went to the Maldives last year on the way back from Sri Lanka. GO!!! Vaccinations - just Hep A, typhoid [ I think] and Tetanus. No probs at all. Advice from docs was to avoid live vaccines and just to be careful about the food and water - to avoid having a tummy bug if possible, but that advice applies anywhere really! Travel insurance does cover CML, underwritten by Fortis.

Have a great honeymoon!
