Same situation as at the beginning of the year .... our pharmacist, who has been very helpful and on the ball, has been over a week trying to get my husband's prescription. Not long you may think, but the norm is 2 days, and we haven't got it yet. We have built up a small leeway with the amount of tabs we still have since our difficulties last February, and I would advise everyone to do the same.

When this subject last raised its head and with my deliveries too, I made enquiries with Novartis.
In a round about way they intimated that the wholesaler of the drugs to the pharmacy was a little slow in paying their bills so there credit was fully utilized. I am not suggesting this is the case with your supplier but you may want to try a different pharmacy which may use a different wholesaler to get the drugs.
Novartis told me all those months ago that there was no problem with supply.

I think we were the first to come across the "shortage" of Glivec last October. I did post at the time (23/10/09) - but thankfully the issue was resolved and we have been back to our normal 3 month supply since then. Apparently it was then due to Glivec being sold abroad for a higher price - there was a lot of media coverage about it......However, we are heading for Ted's latest appointment today, so we'll see if we have any difficulties with supply. It can take about 5 days to receive it from the local Pharmacy, but will let you know.
Okay, I picked up our tablets this afternoon, our pharmacist went direct to Novartis. It's one better than earlier on in the year when she had them delivered by courier from Novartis (SE England ? we are in south Wales !)
However our next hospital appoimtment is on Dec 21st and she strongly advised me to get the next prescription in 2 weeks before that. I'm going to ask our consultant if we can have a prescription ahead of the appointment, and if he's not happy to do that I'll ring for an earlier hospital visit. I have to factor in that my husband works away from home a lot (in oceanography) and has to take a good supply of tabs with him. All the best to everyone ...

Just to let you know we've collected Ted's Glivec from our local pharmacy - 3 month's supplied again with no problems thank goodness. It took a little longer at 8 days this time, but we're not really complaining!
