I'm not sure if David ever posted on this site but I wanted all of you to know that he was a friend of mine and a true CML warrior. Even when things were bad, David was always upbeat.

Lt. David R. Cox, USN (Ret.), age 48, a resident of Colorado Springs since 2007, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2010 at his home. He lived his life bravely with cancer for almost five years. He died from complications after a bone marrow transplant for Leukemia. He had retired (medically) after serving his country in the United States Navy for more than 26 years. David Robert Cox was born on June 24, 1962 in Biloxi, Mississippi. He was a 1980 graduate of Kaiserslautern High School, Germany and the University of Maryland. He was very proud of his military achievements, working his way up through the ranks of the Navy - from enlisted boot camp all the way to a commissioned officer. He married Marie-Louise Sweeney of Limerick, at Cratloe Church, County Clare, Ireland on September 27, 1986. In the Navy, he was appreciated for his abilities in electronics and information security. In his spare time he enjoyed golf, running, camping and fishing. David loved his country, the Navy, but most especially, his beloved family and boys. He will be best remembered as a devoted father and brother. He is survived by his loving wife; his sons: Brendan, Kieran and Connor; his parents: Sheila and Joseph Cox of Fallbrook, California; his brothers: Stephen Cox of Los Angeles, California and Daryl (wife, Cheryl) Cox of Arnold, Maryland; and his twin sister: Lisa (husband, Erik) Summers of Oceanside, California. He is also survived by his cherished in-laws: Tony and Elinor Sweeney of Limerick, Ireland. David had a deep love for his wife's native country, Ireland, and had many friends there who will miss him enormously. He often said that half his heart was in Ireland. David was preceded in death by his brother: Russell Cox in 1983. A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful†Chapel. A rosary will follow at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 15, at the United States Air Force Community Center Chapel, 5134 Cathedral Drive, USAFA, Colorado 80840. Should friends desire, or in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the David Cox Educational Fund, in care of Navy Federal Credit Union, Account No. 3023904802, 1139 Space Center Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80915.
