Pain

Hi,
I was put on Dasatinib a month ago after becoming resistant to Glivec but was only on it for 2 weeks before my platelets dropped too low and I had to stop.
Saw my haematologist yesterday and they are still low so cannot restart as yet but in the last few days I've had really severe bone and joint pain, I'm having to take painkillers every few hours just to cope. I've never known pain like it.
I can't understand, and neither can my heamatologist or the GP, why I am in such pain when I haven't taken any meds for 2 weeks. They say if it carries on they'll do tests.
Has anybody heard or had this or could it be unrelated?
My WBC is slightly raised at 15 and my platelets are 66.
Anyone any ideas?
Thanks
Jackie

How long has your wbc been rising or has it been at 15 for a while? Your platelet count is low but at 66 I think that it might be wise for your doctors to consider trying a low dose of dasatinib just to see if your platelets can stand up.
Sorry I cannot advise further as it really does depend on the individual. You could try taking extra magnesium for the joint pains- or try using magnesium oil rubbed into your joints- you can get this in high street health shops/chemists.

I do hope your platelets rise soon so you can go back on therapy.
