Spammers

I have contacted our technical guy about the spam problem. He might well shut the site down temporarily while we put anti spam software in to try to deal with this problem. I am flying back from Greece tonight and will try to deal with this latest attack on Wednesday if Roger cannot do so before.

meanwhile we are still waiting for NICE to contact the consultees. As I said last week I will put up the date that the FAD is due to be published as soon as NICE contact me to let me know when that will be. I expect to hear from them at some time this week... probably by Friday at the latest.

I think we can all now see how hard this must be for you...the Spam is completely messing up the chronological order of entries.

Hi all, I have temporarily suspended new signups while I clear out all the spam messages and see if we can make it harder for the spammers to sign up in the future. Sorry to any new visitors who would like to sign up right now, it might take a few days to approve your application as we are going to have to revert to doing this manually for the time being.

I have put some "hopefully" stronger anti-spammer measures in place and have reenabled signups. Let's see how that goes (fingers crossed!).

This site makes a donation every time you search - uses Bing and Yahoo search tools.

Latest from Easyfundraising is that 31 people have so far raised £93.60 for CMLSg. It is very easy to use and if you buy anything on-line from books to holidays to using e-bay etc. etc. you just need to connect to your supplier through the easyfundraising web-site for the donation (for example up to 2.5% of product value from Amazon) to be credited to CMLSg. You also get notification of deals and offers - a couple of e-mails a month and some of them useful.

Its very little extra effort to put some funds towards this fantastic site.

A Big thanks to Roger for dealing with the spam attack so comprehensively... we now have a new anti spam software installed which I am sure will deal with the problem.

Roger has been a very important part of this site over the years and continues to support us by giving his time at greatly reduced rates in order to help us. He is certainly one of the good guys out there, and we could not continue so easily without his expertise and advice.

Thanks also to Alistair and Vickie for reminding everyone of the easy fundraising option and for your very supportive comments. Much appreciated, and thanks to all of you who continue to help support us by using this option to raise money for our group. Every little helps. 

We will be investigating new ways of raising funds over the coming months as things are getting more challenging for all charities- especially small 'niche' one like ours.
