Health trusts pay £1m to STOP patients getting expensive drugs

Very interesting piece! Thanks for posting it here Richard. I understand the the present government take a dim view of any public body (PCT) taking positions that are pro or against. If it is a legal requirement for PCT's to accept a positive appraisal from NICE and find the money to fund a treatment then they must do so.

I seem to remember that there was a member of a PCT on the appraisal committee dealing with dasatinib, nilotinib and HD imatinib. I will check the list of committee members. If I am correct then it might  be argued that a member of a PCT could be seen to have a conflict of interest and should not be eligible to sit on NICE committees?
