Zavie

Sandy, I have been wondering if there is any news on Zavie's progress after his stroke? He has done so much for so many of us and his zero club has been such a positive support.

If you are in touch with his wife, please let her know that he has not been forgotten,

Best wishes to everyone

Chrissie

This is the last update re Zavie from Giora of the CML group in Israel who is in touch regualrly with Zavie's family. This news is from 4 weeks ago, I have not heard anything since then.

Sandy

Dear All
Here is the lastest update from Zavie's doughter Sandra. The good news is that Zavie is our of the hospital and in a rehabilitation center. I spoke with his wife Ida, and she said he has a long way to go to recuparate. I hope and pray that he will be able to Join Jan and me and other cml advocates at teh ASH meeting this year, like he has been doing the last few years.

" Things are about to change, once again. This new step in Zavie's journey sees him moved to the GAU (Geriatric Assessment Unit *apparently 73 is old enough to be deemed as "geriatric" -who knew?) as of noon today and he will remain there as he is going to work on the skills he'll need when he is ready to go home. From a medical standpoint he is considered stable and now the focus has changed to building his strength and skill-building. He will be busy during most of the day with PT, OT, etc so they encourage family and visitors to adhere to the 3PM-8PM visiting hours Monday through Friday. He is in good spirits and as always, eager to go home. The transition to his new unit (on the first floor) will take a few days as he will be kept in one room for the next day or two, then moved to his permanent bed.

I am encouraged by his progress and positive attitude. It is with a heavy heart that I leave but at the same time I know that he has an incredible support network around him headed up by his devoted wife who is in turn sustained by all of you in one way or another. Please know that we are so very proud to say that every one of you has been instrumental in Zavie's recovery and you are forever in our hearts"

Thanks for everyone who have been praying for Zavie. You have been a major partners in Zavies fighting process to get well.
Best regards
Giora

Thank you, Sandy.  This is heartening news and to be in a specialist rehabilitation unit will surely be benificial to him and his family. Even better to hear that he is able to think about returning home.

I'm sure everyone who knew him through this site will wish him well in his journey back to health,

best wishes

Chrissie
