I have very kindly been informed by Pennie and Sandy that I should be able to drink water during the three hour fast for nilotinib. Does anyone else do this? I was told nil by mouth but I shall go back and question this again. Appreciate your knowledge, how much we just accept!

Water during fasting on Nilotinib please comment if you do
Hi Emma,
I can understand your concerns, when I was on nilotinib I was told its fine to drink water. Not carbonated just plain water is fine. So go ahead, no problems.

Jed's been told by the gang at Hammersmith that he can drink as much water as he wants during the fasting period, and he's been on nilotinib for a couple of years now.
This really has changed everything! I have started sipping water during fasting although my husband is very reluctant for me to do it without checking with the trial people so I shall call first thing tomorrow. This I will achieve though because I am not giving up. Did I say a big THANK YOU for everyone who has commented, really appreciate it.

Hi Emma,
I have been on Nilotinib for a year. I have been told that its fat that transports the drug into your bloodstream to quickly and that's why you fast. I personally drink mint tea, lemon water and black coffee (never milk as this is fat) during the fast with no ill effects but the medical advise is water only.
Take care
Lynn
Thank you so much everyone. i have now had it confirmed by my trial nurse I can drink water during the fasting period. you would not believe the difference it has made to my life, i no longer zone out in the afternoon and feel so much better.
Thank you so much for all your posts, it really helps to have people share their knowledge!
