Travel Holiday Insurance

My family are off on holiday at Easter out of Europe, and so I have been trying to get holiday insurance to cover recent CML diagnosis (two months) tried the usual companies as well as specialist companies most normal companies would not cover, specialist companies would but with quotes ranging upto £500 plus for two weeks for a family of four.

I have arranged cover via “Travelmaster” via the travel agent but they deal with public directly as well, 01483 730900 at a cost of family of four for £83 having spoken first to their medical health screening department who asked me fairly straight forward questions they then provide the top up to the policy to give full CML cover, holiday cancellation etc additional premium in my case was £37 giving a total of £120, quite a saving thus I thought I would post for anybody else in the future looking for insurance.

Hi Nigel

That's really useful to know. We're also looking to book a holiday around Spring next year ( can't wait as haven't had one for ages due to having an eventful couple of years - new baby and partic. last 12 months- made redundant, new job, moved house, mum had op with bowel cancer (ok thankfully), toddler teerrrrrible sleeper : ) and of course my 40th birthday present the CML to top it!). Do you need any paperwork for the insurers? any nod from the docs needed ? ( just thinking as ur newbie like me). Think there's stuff  from others in the postings but it will save me routing ; )

Hi Jo, blimey what a year or two you have had, you are through it though so great, glad to hear moms well and a baby, only a few years older with kids so remember it well. Tiring but great fun.

No is the answer, some detailed question, easy to answer and that was it. You get the quote first from the health screen dept, they give you a reference number. Then buy the policy, add the reference number in, pay for the policy, and then you need to ring the health screen dept. back and pay for the additional cover. Email me if needed : ndeekes@onetel.com

My policy gave a good cover and upto £3000 each cancelation cover which was really the main part I was after as a newby, as you pay for the holiday way before you go. Seems to me unlikely to get ill in 2 weeks away, it’s the 3 months between the payment and travel just incase, so can get the money back. Hope this helps, keep good, and have fun over Christmas with your toddler.
