Symptoms of CML

I was first diagnosed with CML in 2004 and I have been taking imatinib ever since. My blood has been "normal" for several years. Recently, however, I have been experience the symptoms of CML (tiny red spots in the skin, swollen spleen, unexplained bruising and tiredness) even though my blood counts are near normal.

Does anyone else experience this?

Hi Richard,

You say your blood has been 'normal' for several years, but do you know the results of your cytogenetic tests or pcr results?

Your symptoms- especially the swollen spleen and unexplained bruising- are rather a concern I agree. Your peripheral blood counts can be normal but it is what is going on in the marrow that is important, which is why you need to know what your cytogenetic response to imatinib is.

I hope you can let us know some more detail, but even so I would suggest you talk to your consultant as soon as you can just to be on the safe side.

Best wishes,

Sandy

Hi Sandy

Sorry for the delay in replying. I have a small excuse, in that I have spent a little while in hospitals in the last month, although nothing to do with CML. My last bone marrow sample was clear of the Philadelphia chromosome, but I am due to see my consultant on 17th, so I will let you know what he says.

Regards

Richard
