Anyone have this problem?

My husband has been on Glivec 400mg since 2007 and is PRCU. He has had an annoying skin problem for quite a long time. It usually starts each day about 4pm. Over time he has varied the meal he has taken his Glivec with but this doesn't seem to make much difference to the time of the day the problem starts. It is a very uncomfortable, unpleasant pinching sensation just underneath the surface of the skin which tends to start over his stomach then moves around his left side over the top of his hip to his lower back. It is worse if he is not sitting up straight and the skin is rippled. Now and again there is a slight rash. It lasts for a few hours. Now and again he gets it all day. Is this a side effect of Glivec or might it be something else? Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you

Lydia

Hi Lydia, sounds like it could be shingles as the area you describe as effected is faily classic for shingles which affects the nerve endings. Is the rash like little raised bumps or blisters? Do it itch as well as hurt if touched?

Other than that I have no ideas, but if it is shingles his GP should be able to identify it as such.

Thanks, Sandy, I knew if I was patient someone would come on site and offer a suggestion. We will check it out.
