Imatinib, Dasatinib, Nilotinib, Ponatinib, Bosutinib -- Out of interest why do all the drugs end in inib ?
Hi Nigel
"inib" is a sort of pharmaceutical shorthand for the type of drug these are. It's short for "inhibitor". You may also read of other kinds of modern drug that end in "mab", though not for CML. That is short for "monoclonal antibody". These suffixes are becoming more and more common as newer drugs based on molecular medicine/targeted therapy are introduced.
