WIN trial

Hi everyone

Just wondering if any of you lucky enough to have had the injections on the above trial have any news. I still trot along to the hospital regularly to give blood and get prodded and poked as part of the control group and my local hospital (RD and E, Exeter) have just one person having the injections apparently so no news there.

Fingers crossed someone will have an amazing response to share with us all ???

Just had my follow-up this morning on the WIN trial where they look at the results over the last 6 months of vaccines and see whether there is any value in continuing. Unfortunately I haven't reached any of the pre-defined cutoffs in terms of PCR reduction or immunological response, which is a bit annoying! They're going to have a look at today's PCR, but unless there is some drastic change, that will be the end of the trial for me.

I did ask about other people on the trial at Hammersmith. I am the 4th on their books and unfortunately the other 3 before me also didn't reach the cutoff point (although I believe 1 may be borderline).

So, it may be a case of the vaccine needs longer to work to see results, or that it needs to be refined in some way or another.

My PCR at the start of the vaccine trial was 0.096% and has been flucuating around 0.02% - 0.06% - I believe they were looking for a log reduction or some immunological response to continue. Hammersmith don't have the exact results so am unable to say whether I just missed any cutoff or not. These will be available after another 6 months when released from Southampton.

So, all in all i'm glad I was able to give it a shot, but doesn't look like it has had any effect on me!

Bryan.

Hi Bryan

Many thanks for posting. So sorry the news wasn't more positive for you or, indeed, for the other 3 people at HH. It will be interesting to hear the results overall from Southampton.

Thanks again
Chrissie

Hi Bryan... disappointing for you I am sure.. but as you say, it might need a little longer to see the results. Hopefully over the next few months there might be a residual effect. I know when I had DLI post SCT I had to have 4 DLI's and wait for over 12 months to finally see its immunological effect.

Best of luck, and at least your PCR results are still pretty low.
