Flu vaccination

Good morning everyone, I was wondering whether to have the flu vaccination as i seem to be getting loads of colds since being on Imatinib. I have not been offered this by doctor, but was thinking of getting one at Boots. Do GP's offer this to CML patients, or is it not advisable? I also have a lot of contact with the public in my work and seem to pick up every cold going at the moment!

Hi i had the jab last year for the first time and had no problem ( probably my healthiest winter ! ) mine was given by nurse at GP's, and my wife was given it as well. My consultant told me i should have it. Hope this helps.

That's good, thanks. I will ring the GP and see if i can get a free one then!

I have been having this vaccine free from my GP since diagnosis 3 years ago. The research nurses at the hospital say they advise all patients to have it.I'd never had one before CML, but it's been painless with no side effects for me ( although one of the GPs felt fluey after it!!)

Hi
Hammersmith Hospital recommend having the flu jab in fact for the last 2 years i had the swine flu jab twice each year.
Also its a good idea to check with your consultant about the other jabs that might be needed such as tetanus Etc.
