Hi first time in nearly five years on 400mg imatanib I believe I took my tablet twice (I usually take 400 once an evening tonight I accidentally took two as I didn't remember taking the first one) the nausea hit pretty quick and I was sick within minutes of the second one and brought it all up (probably the fact that I had a greasy dinner didn't help either!) I looked at the leaflet that comes with the box but didn't see anything about "if you take too many" has anyone ever done this or know if I should be concerned? I'm drinking extra water just in case! Thanks

Extra tablet by accident
Bill, don't worry. The fact that you have been sick has already removed all of the second dose before your body had a chance to metabolise it. No matter even if you did, there have been doses of up to 1000mg of imatinib in early clinical trials without it showing any dose limiting effects...i.e no effects that are serious just extra of the usual side effects.
Many people are taking upwards of 400mg imatinib- 600mg is common.
Please do not worry, relax and just return to your normal regime tomorrow. Extra water is always a good thing- not matter what ;o)

During the first couple of months after diagnosis and starting treatment, my husband sometimes couldn't remember whether he'd taken his medication. He now uses one of the little tablet containers with different sections for each day, filling the compartments once a week. It's now easy to check that he's not missed any - and stops him taking too many.
