I am a 30yr old man who was diagnosed with cml this month and was prescribed imatinib tablets.
I have found the above article regarding drugs releasing in 2014 in order to eradicate stem cells. what do you think? is it appropriate for cml?

Hi, this seems to be still in very early investigative research i.e in mice.
As far as I can understand, this compound targets stem cells specifically. There are studies that are doing this by combining TKI with cloroquinine and are currently open.
As you have only just been diagnosed, your disease needs to be treated with the very effective TKIs currently available in order to get your disease to a lower levels- to get your PH+ cells down to below 10% within 3 months.
Please read the UK CML Seminar Notes- post in red on top of this page - as well as Prof. Steve O'briens notes on ASH 2012....this might help you understand the current best treatment options available.
I hope this helps,
