I am due to receive, as a gift, a trip to a spa which will include a facial and massage. Now I have received a Medical Declaration form and, as I am on Dasatinib, wonder what effect the treatments might have if I should take them? Has anybody else been in this predicament?
You are here
Spa Treatment
Hi
Yes, been there. I simply didn't declare it. My view was that if you don't declare it, then they're absolved of liability if there were to be a problem because it wasn't made known to them. However, even if you were to declare it, there are two likely outcomes: they ask you to sign a separate waiver absolving them of liability anyway, or they decline to do the treatment.
Either way, if I wanted the treatment, I was unlikely to get it with any acceptance of liability on their part, so it's much easier to just ignore it.
If the treatment was something where I thought the drug might be an issue, I would declare it, but for something like this, it's just not worth the hassle it'll cause, in my view. It's not ingesting anything, and nothing being put on the skin is likely to be an irritant. I also take Dasatinib.
We British do like to play by the rules, so it's hard to do, but misbehaviour can be fun too :-)
Rod
What Rod said. I'm on Tasigna and have had multiple trips to the spa over the last few years. I initially declared it and now I don't even bother for the same reasons Rod identified. They are more interested in people who have heart issues, arthritis etc. than our type of issue.
Go and enjoy
Chris
I absolutely agree with Rod and Chris have said, enjoy your spa day and forget CML for a while.
