hi i recieved my recent result of 0.00011 can anyone tell me is this close to undetected? numbers arent my thing haha, the hos posted this result so never had it explained thanks hannah
You are here
result and significance
Hannah,
that does look like a major set of zeros! Do you know where you PCR test was done? Normally (from my experience of Hammersmith lab) there is the first zero - ie. the one with the decimal after it
0.
then the numbers that follow indicate the level of 'residual disease'... or the percentage of cells with the abnormal fusion gene BCR/ABL that remain.
So if you have 0.1% you are at MR3 (molecular response = to a 3 log reduction from a 100% positivity at diagnosis)
100% at diagnosis
10% (1 log)
1% (2 log)
0.1%.... or 3 log reduction
below that you will see some achieve even more zeros
0.01% = MR4 or 4 log reduction
0.032% = MR4.5 or 4.5 log reduction
0.001% = MR5 or 5 log reduction
Currently not many labs report below MR5 but it looks like yours did.
It might be worth asking your doctor next time to explain what your result actually indicates and how it has been reported by the lab that they use.
0.00011 would be equivalent to undetectable so you are doing very well indeed.
Sandy ;o)
