Hello everyone,
I started Tasigna treatment in August last year and my doctor is very happy about the results, PCR at 0.05% after 3month.
I have very little side effects, but in the last 4 month, I started getting acid reflux, GERD problems. I had to change timing of medication. I used to take it at 6 am the morning and evening, but I cannot sleep anymore after the dose of the morning and feel like someone is strangling me.
Has anyone some advice about this? What can I do to help? Natural remedies?
Thank you

Hi,
this subject has come up quite often recently. I think you might want to read one of the recent threads on this very subject.... here: http://www.cmlsupport.org.uk/node/8193
Congratulations on your very good 3 month response to nilotinib,
Best wishes,

Dear Sandy,
Thank you for your answers and I'm working on it! It is great to have a support like this for CML, I really feel less lonely!
We are moving in less than 2 month from Asia back to Europe, so I hope I can come to one of your meeting soon,
regards,
ece
Hello,
I had this issue on Tasigna in the first twelve months - it has now gone away. I had to be very careful on what i ate and drank. Here is what worked for me:
drink lots of water throughout the day and at least 1/2 pint with the tablets.
Avoid acidic foods - pineapple/acidic fruits, spicy food, cooked tomatoes, lager, wine, coffee, curry, fruit juices.
I also drank aloe every day - you can get this from health food stores.
Eat 'basic food stuffs' such as baked potato, vegetables, chicken, fish etc.
I also took ranitidine if it was bad and over time it has abated to a very acceptable level which i never really notice.
that's a great response to the tasigna and the side effects will probably reduce with time and good management.
Chris
Hello Chris,
Thank you for you message, it helps me to hear that it can go away. I will try your suggestions also and hope it will improve.
Yes, we are very happy about the results with Tasigna and I really hope that maybe I can stop or reduce the dose one day. But most important to go on without getting in advance stages of CML.
Thank you again,
Ece
