Hi every body.
To day is beginning of the new year in our country (Iran).
My mother (57 years old) was diagnosed with CML (Phase 1) 7 months ago with 180000 WBC level.
Her doctor started threatment with HYDROXYUREA for decreasing WBC level for 2 weeks and then switched to IMATINIB (400mg/d). At the first 2 months from beginning her blood counts were going down and up and she had serious side effects like cramps and bone pain but after 2 months her RBC and HGB and PLT and others became to normal level also WBC was 9000. After 6 months she had a PCR examination that it's results was very good. Yes her PCR was 0.002% and all we are happy for this results. Now she is very good and doesn't have serious side effects like first 2 months. She goes out, and we just had a little trip to Turkey last month.
Thanks to GOD and doctors and you good friends for helping us not to be depressed at the beginning.
Good luck for every body.
You are here
Good results with IMATINIB
That's great news.
I remember when you posted originally, and like all of us at diagnosis you had lots of questions and were understandably very worried for your mother. It sounds like she's had an excellent response so you must be very relieved and optimistic compared to the first time you posted here. It's nice to hear a "success" story.
Thanks for keeping us up to date and Happy New Year!
David.
Hi Shafagh
I have often thought about you and your mother after reading your earlier posts and wondered how she is coping with Imatinib now. I am so pleased to read the good news and that your mother isn't suffering from serious side effects.A wonderful result with her PCRs.
Happy New Year,
Chrissie
Thank you for updating us all. As you can see your story touched a lot of people and it is so good to hear that you can now have confidence that your mother can continue her life normally and with hope for the future. Her PCR result is excellent and there is every reason for you and your family to celebrate, not only this New Year but also many more to come.
Best wishes to your mother,
Sandy
