Pancreas and thyroid

Hi guys, first fo all, i want to thanks everybody for the support, it means a lot to me, second of all, i'm 4 months into tasigna and my lipase and amylase are a little elevated (something between 30% of the normal), also my thyroid levels are crazy, with a high t4 and a very low tsh. does anybody had the same problem? is it transient? is there something i can do to help my body? thanks in advance!

Hi Lucas,
you might be hypothyroid (thyroid giving out too low a level of hormones)- which I am sure happens to many.
You can read all about this condition as well as other related conditions such as adrenal exhaustion (related to long term stress) on this patient run website here: http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/lab-values/
You can order one or both of their excellent book on thyroid -how to get the correct diagnosis- and how to treat it.

A short clip regarding levels of T4 here:
'FREE T4: T4 is the thyroid storage hormone. Free in front of the T4 means you are measuring what is available and unbound. Generally, those on an optimal amount of desiccated thyroid will have a free T4 mid-range or higher when their free T3 is at the top and in the presence of healthy adrenals. If you have low FT4 and a mid-range or slightly higher FT3, it usually means the T4 is converting like mad to give you the T3 you do have, which means hypo.'

Sandy

thanks, sandy, but it seems i have hyper, not hipo. maybe it's transitory. let's wait :)

Lucas... the STTM book/website covers both hyper and hypo as well as hashimoto's thyroiditis etc. - complex info explained well.
Do you have symptoms or feel that you may be hyperthyroid?

Sandy

hi, sandy. i don't feel the symptons. i read an article that says that it could be temporary. i'll check it with a thyroid doctor. :)
