Hi Please can I ask I've been on imatinib now coming up to 1 month and yesterday I've started to feel some pain in my left side front & back but more back, I'm thinking spleen or kidney? Has anyone had this pain after diagnosed & after meds started?? I am a worrier a BIG worrier and I'm terrified this is a sign of things getting worse not better?? I'm seeing my Dr on Tuesday but that seems like years away while I'm sat here worried. I hope you are all ok xx

Just to reassure you, in the early days of treatment your body is probably breaking down a lot of the disease with the help of your medication. That means there's a lot of 'waste' to get rid of, which can bring some temporary problems such as a bit of gout or other niggling pains that will go away! Your body is doing a lot of work right now! Patients are often given allopurinol to take at the same time if there's a lot of disease to get rid of.
