Hello everyone,

My name is Ivan and I'm 30 years old and I've been diagnosed with CML on Oct. 26. I just went for a routine check up and they found, that my WBC was 52000. I'm waiting to start treatment with Nilotinib and for now I'm on Hydroxyurea, which decreased my WBC to 20000. I'm still very much in the dark, on what I will do, because I live in UAE, where you are basically on your own. Luckily in Bulgaria, where I'm from, TKI's are given for free, so I have to figure out a way to get my Nilotinib in advance every now and then.

Hi Ivan,

Welcome to this forum and website. I suggest you do not try to learn too much too fast, so best to visit our CML facts page to start with:

http://www.cmlsupport.org.uk/section/10-facts-about-cml

You are very welcome to ask questions - there are many of us who have been dealing with CML for years - and most very successfully. If you are confused by any terminology or aspect of the disease and its treatment please ask, I am sure you will find helpful advice here.

Sandy

Thank you, for the welcome, Sandy. I've already read quite a lot, but I still have to learn much more and actually experience it first hand.
