My cousin has CML. Has been on Sprycel. Blood tests show she is in remission. However, she continues to suffer with excessive fatigue, back spasms, dizziness, inability to fall / stay asleep, etc. Oncologist says since blood tests show remission, none of these ailments are related to CML or Sprycel... Rather patronizing and dismissive in her demeanor. Is it plausible that these ailments & issues relate to her CML (and/or medication) even though she is in remission?

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear your cousin is suffering form what sounds like side effects of therapy. As here doctor has told her she is in remission it is unlikely that it is CML that is causing her problems. Each TKI has a set of common side effects as well as more uncommon ones. If you/she takes a look at the patient leaflet for dasatinib (Sprycel) it will show a list of common and less common side effects.... or take a look here: http://www.sprycel.com/side-effects# and here: http://packageinserts.bms.com/ppi/ppi_sprycel.pdf
If her doctor says she is in remission she could ask for the test results- particularly the results of the molecular test called q-PCR.... it is very usual for doctors to share test results with their patients. Where is she based/treated?
