Webcast Details: CML Patient Day 2016 - Saturday, 24th September

Here is the link to the webcast of the UK CML Patient day, 2016.

http://www.mpdmeetings.org/patient-conference-2016/

For those who cannot attend the CML Patient Day in person, we will be webcasting the conference live. Viewers will be able to watch the webcast free of charge, in real time. A link to the webcast will become available following the link above on the day of the event. The webcast will start at 10:00 and finish at approximately 16:30; the agenda is available to view on the website link above. We look forward to you virtually joining us.

This is really wonderful - thanks, David.  I was even thinking about flying to the UK to attend the conference, but cannot afford it - will this conference be available to international viewers outside the UK too?  Sounds like a great event.

Will there be anything we can see on line after the event?  I seem to remember that the Gateshead conference had at least an edited version of the presentations available afterwards.  I hope so, as I won't be able to follow it on the day.  Anyway, I hope it all goes well.

Olivia

Yes, I would like to watch on another day as 24th is the day of the Bloodwise walk Exeter -Starcross. Hope this will be possible.

I had a clininc day yesterday and find I am at the lowest ever since dx exactly 7 years ago and gained an extra 0.  PCR now at 0.004 so very happy.

Best to all

Chrissie

Hi Martin,

There are no geographic restrictions, so you should have no problems at all.

Last year, there was an online system to ask questions to the experts giving the talks. I imagine there will be something similar this year, so even though you can't be there in person you can do the next best thing!

David.

Olivia,

I'm not sure - from first glance the Webcast platform looks the same as last year, so hopefully there'll be a similar post-conference feed available.

David.

Congratulations Chrissie!  I've got my next check-up tomorrow, so cross your fingers for me... Last time I was a little bit up, 0.008, but over the last 18 months I have gone from 0.009 to undetectable, so I'm not very apprehensive (or no more than usual).

I hope you get good weather for your walk.  How far is it, and how long do you expect it to take?

Olivia

Thank you so much, David - it's really great that I can watch this conference all the way from South Africa.  Good luck to everyone and enjoy the conference!  I'm sure that it will be a huge success.

Chrissie, Many congratulations on your improved molecular status!

Sandy

Hi Olivia

Hope your clinic visit went OK. Are you still on a lower dosage and , if so, how are the side effects now? It's such strange stuff, this Imatinib, but it does the business. I had totally new side effects when I went back on full dosage 11 months ago- but now all is good and I feel great.

Tomorrow's walk is either 8.6 or 12 miles and we, as a family, have opted for the 8.6 miles (although our "kids" could have done the longer one I'm sure) which should take 3-4 hours. Weather not looking too good, but here's hoping.

Thank you, Sandy. I always wanted the extra 0 and now I have it - long may it last!  I wasn't surprised to fail DESTINY when I'd never reached MR4 but If I can keep it down there for a couple of years I may well try half dosage again - with my consultant's permission, of course.

Best to all

Chrissie

Hi Chrissie

The hospital visit went fine, I'm still on 200mg and the side effects are certainly less annoying - though I still get occasional cramps and frequent watery eyes.  My haemoglobin was the best yet, apparently, but I didn't get a figure (PCR is enough maths for me!).

I hope the walk goes well.  Up here in Edinburgh it is very windy, but reasonably warm and dry, so far.

Olivia

Hi Olivia and David Fitz

Well, we all completed the walk although the wind was ferocious and we were walking  against it which made it hard going. At least it didn't rain so the conditions could have been worse. There were about 40 of us in total which I thought was a good turn out for down here. Hopefully a good amount was raised for Bloodwise and with our bright red T shirts and lots of cyclists enjoying the cycle path and showing interest in us I think we managed to raise awareness of the charity.

Pleased the side effects are abating, Olivia and that you're still on reduced dosage.

Best to all, as ever,

Chrissie

PS Olivia - try Blink for watery eyes ( sold over the counter in any pharmacy). Recommended by my optician who explained that although eyes are watering, this is actually a symptom of dry eyes ( He explained it in gardening terms -  water poured on very dry ground it isn't absorbed and runs everywhere). Anyway, I've been using Blink for years now when i get watering eyes and it really works.
