Heart health ... role of vitamin D

We know TKI's put stress on the heart and cardiovascular system. And we also know CML is no longer a killer like it once was.

This is why it is important to focus on artery health overall and keep in mind that CML is not likely to get us in the end.

Vitamin D3 (which converts to vitamin D in the body) is vital for a healthy immune system and heart health. We should all make sure we maintain high normal levels of vitamin D in our blood.

In my own case, I maintain vitamin D blood level between 60-80 ng/ml averaging around 70 ng/ml most of the time. Levels around 20 ng/ml are insufficient for artery and immune health. Best source of vitamin D is the sun. In winter I supplement to make sure my vitamin D level doesn't drop.

Hey Scuba - what are your thoughts about taking CoQ10 for heart health as well? Good to see you over on this site.

I have read a lot of articles on CoQ10

and I do have a bottle of it laying around, but I find myself not taking it consistently like I do Magnesium, vitamin D3 and K2.

CoQ10 is naturally produced by the liver. It's found in every cell and is particularly important for the heart. I tend not to supplement with CoQ10 because I have not seen evidence that "extra" is necessary. The key is whether your body has enough naturally or not. If you have liver issues, then supplementing with coq10 might make sense.

I completely agree with you. Vitamin D and other vitamins should be taken to maintain health and immunity, especially for the elderly and people with poor health. I take vitamins regularly, but I take more vitamin D in winter, especially on pandemics it's better to take it for people who work from home and rarely go outdoors. My grandmother taught me this long ago because she takes vitamins regularly, even though her health is fine. However, she still got herself health insurance with the best (link deleted by moderator) to make sure that in the future, she can pay for her treatment in case of emergencies.

Oh, I didn't even know vitamin D played an important role in heart health. This will come in handy for me in the future. Thank you very much. When I was in the hospital with a heart condition and barely made it out of the world, no one told me to take vitamin D or anything at all. Because I am from a low-income family, and we did not have a policy. But after that, my mother realized there was no way without it and went to (link deleted) They welcomed us and listened to our story. After understanding our difficult situation, we were able to find an insurance payment plan that was appropriate for us. We were very happy with the reception.
