New to forum

I am new to this forum, and have jumped over the pond from the US site.  Two years ago, I was diagnosed with colon cancer and went through surgery followed by chemotherapy.  I have a few side effects from that but nothing very severe. I am 64 years old and was diagnosed with CML in September of 2016. I am being treated with Gleevec (generic) 400 mg.

I lost my job in June of 2017 and my health insurance.  I have new insurance now and my new doctor was the one who discovered the CML.  After the diagnosis I decided to take an early retirement and I am glad I did.  Although I don't have any major effects from the Gleevec, I am able to be at home and can watch for any thing which could happen. So far, my doctor feels that I am responding well to the Gleevec.  My lab results are below - my first sign of the CML was the elevated white count, and a BMB confirmed the BCR/ABL%.

9/26/16   WBC 72, BCR/ABL 60% IS

10/10/16  WBC 59  BCR/ABL 30% IS

1/7/17     WBC   3.6  BCR/ABL 3% IS

Hello Eileen and welcome,

Looks like you are within ELNet recommendations for optimal response to TKI therapy, and NCCN (US) guidelines.  Your  October and January PCR results show you are doing well. Good job you found your current doctor!
