hello I am new here. 23 years old got diagnosed in February 2018. I’ve been on glivec for 9 days. My tinnitus has really gone bad it first started with one ear now it’s affecting my other ear does anyone know if it will get better or if there is anything I can do to help? Also almost all my joints ache me and my pulse rate is really high. Any suggestions for a new user of glivec ?

Tinnitus and joint pains

Hi there. That sounds pretty tough - a new CML diagnosis is hard to take. 23 is young - I was in my early thirties when diagnosed, so a bit older than you but not by that much. It's not something you expect, is it?
The first while on glivec / imatinib can be really hard. It's a lot to take in physically and emotionally. You're going to be really stressed out, and that won't help tinnitus.
Sore joints are unfortunately very common. For the vast majority, this is very temporary ... your body has had a real shock. It could take a month or two to get used to. And if problems go on longe than that you do have options, there are other medicines and all sorts of things that can help.
Do you have much friends and family to help and support you at the moment? I know in my early days the stress made me feel physically bad and I needed help from friends and family.
David.
Hey.
I got tinnitus after starting Glivec.
At first it was really bad, but after a few months it got better, not sure if the tinnitus itself got better or that i just got used to it, but its no big issue for me anymore, even though its almost always there.
Good luck.
Oh wow so sorry about that teddy, I guess everyone’s body is different because I had tinnitus before starting glivec
